Cook sugar, cornstarch, and pineapple until clear and thick. Cool and put in unbaked pie shell. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sugar, and salt. Blend well. Add eggs one at a time, blending well after each has been added. Blend in milk and vanilla. Pour into pie shell. Sprinkle with pecans. Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 325 degrees and bake for 40 minutes.
