Old-Fashioned Hot Fudge Sundae Cake
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In an ungreased 9×9-inch baking dish, add flour, sugar, 2 tablespoons cocoa, baking powder, and salt; mix well with fork.
  3. Stir in milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  4. Add nuts, if desired. Spread batter evenly.
  5. Sprinkle top of cake batter with brown sugar and remaining 1/4 cup cocoa.
  6. Pour hot water over top (do not mix) and bake on middle rack until top layer has a dry brownie-like crust (approx. 40 minutes).
  7. Remove and spoon warm cake sauce over ice cream. Enjoy!
