Old Fashioned Fruit Cake (Dark)
Joyce writes “This recipe is close to 100 years old. Handed down from my great grandmother, to my grandmother, to me, and I’m 73.”
  1. Mix together all ingredients in order as listed and pour into a prepared 8- x 12-inch cake pan. It will be thick.
  2. Bake at 300 degrees for 2-1/2 hours. Check with a toothpick at that time.
  3. Cool well and keep in refrigerator with a covered lid.
  4. Serve thin slices; it will be a moist cake. Later, cut into smaller squares, wrap, and store in freezer.
