Ingredients
- Cake:
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 3 Tbsp cocoa
- 1/2 cup nuts
- Topping
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 4 Tbsp cocoa
- Syrup:
- 2-1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 pinch salt

Instructions
- Cake: Mix cake ingredients together (except nuts) and pour into a greased 9x13-inch cake pan.
- Topping: Mix together sugar, brown sugar, and cocoa. Sprinkle nuts over top of cake mixture.
- Syrup: Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- Pour boiling water and vanilla over cake mixture.
- Sprinkle pinch of salt over everything. Bake for approx. 35–40 minutes.
- The cake will rise to the top and the boiling water will combine with the sugar/cocoa mix to make a rich syrup underneath. Cut into squares and place them upside down (gooey side up) on dessert plates.Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. Enjoy!
