Frosted Orange Drop Cookies**
”I have a cookie recipe to share—I hope you like them! They are a huge hit wherever I bring them, I think because they are a little different than the typical Spritz, cutouts, etc. This recipe is from my husband’s childhood next-door neighbor in 1978.”

Orange Butter Frosting

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Beat shortening and sugar in a bowl until creamy; add egg and mix. Add orange juice and orange rind; mix.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Add dry ingredients into the wet mixture, slowly, mixing well.
  5. Space cookies two inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for approx. 8–10 minutes. Let cool completely before frosting.
Orange Butter Frosting
  1. Beat butter with confectioner’s sugar; add orange juice and rind and mix well. Spread icing on top of cookies.
