Instructions
  1. Blend together sugar, butter, eggs, molasses, and vanilla. Mix in applesauce, cherries, raisins, cranberries, and pecans; let this mixture sit to allow the raisins and cranberries to plump up.
  2. Meanwhile, in a separate bowl blend the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, and salt.
  3. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix well.
  4. Grease 2 bread loaf pans (or 3 small loaf pans).
  5. Bake at 275 degrees for about 1-1/2 hours. Time may vary depending upon the type of bread pan used.
  6. Test for doneness with a toothpick.
Recipe Notes

Tip: Line the bottom of the bread pans with a layer of brown paper from a paper bag; it will prevent the cakes from sticking and will allow them to release when done.
