Candy-Topped Bars
  1. In a large bowl, combine flour and brown sugar.
  2. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in pecans.
  4. Set aside 1/4 cup of this mixture for topping.
  5. Press remaining crumb mixture into a greased 9-inch square pan.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 12–15 minutes. In a mixing bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar.
  7. Add egg, milk, and vanilla; mix well. Pour over warm crust.
  8. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Bake for 20–30 minutes.
  9. Immediately sprinkle with baking chips. Cool on a wire rack.
  10. Cut into bars and refrigerate leftovers.
