Sweet Rides is a homemade pie and ice cream social that includes a car show. It is a fundraiser for the Westby Area Historical Society, and this year will be the 10th anniversary of the event. Dennis Gage, from the “My Classic Car” TV show, will be our special guest. Visit our Facebook page where we are already promoting T-shirt sales and sponsorship opportunities.
The show offers more than 65 awards and prizes. We incorporate crafts/vendors, two raffles for children’s pedal cars, hidden rocks that can be found for prizes, and face painting for children. Our car show is particularly attractive to couples because we are only one block off Main Street in Westby, close to various retail stores and restaurants. We also have many women who bring their cars and several who bring motorcycles. Awards are given by sponsors and there is a People’s Choice Award given as the grand prize.
Sweet Rides & Sweet Pies will be held on Saturday, July 26. Online registration will begin in June, and in-person registration begins at 9:00 on the day of the event. Sweet Rides is open to the public at 10:00 when 100 homemade pies with ice cream will be served by the slice for only $5.00. Food trucks and local restaurants will also be serving food on the property. Because Dennis Gage will be a huge draw, we expect to register more than 350 cars for the show. Prizes will be awarded starting at 2:30. To receive a trophy, a car must be registered.
