A Cleansweep is a special scheduled collection of unwanted, unused, damaged, restricted, or banned household and agricultural wastes.
Rusk County Highway Shop, 500 W 9th St S, Ladysmith, WI 54848. Acceptable items include oil-based paints, solvents, pesticides, hazardous cleaners, corrosives, flammables, mercury, lead tackle and shot, old gas, antifreeze, and other chemicals you wouldn’t consider dumping. Not acceptable items include Latex Paint, Empty Paint Cans, Oil Filters, Motor Oil, Explosives, Flares or Fireworks, Freon 11 & 12, Radioactive Materials (including smoke/Co2 alarms), Ammunition, Compressed Gas Cylinders – any size, Recyclables, Asbestos, Biological or Infectious Wastes, Spray Foam Cylinders, Incandescent Light Bulbs, and Alkaline Batteries.
It is mandatory for everyone to remain in their vehicles while in the hazardous waste area. For other collections, you can leave your car to pay for items. This is a highly congested event with multiple collections and we want everyone to be safe. Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
