Beaver Dam Community Hospital
The 10th annual Nurses Run-Walk-Roll 5K Challenge hosted by the nurses of Beaver Dam Community Hospitals, Inc. is set for Saturday, May 19. All community members are invited to join this celebration in honor of the BDCH nurses during National Nurses Week.
The run, held rain or shine, will begin at 8 a.m. near the front entrance of the hospital at 707 S. University Avenue in Beaver Dam. After meandering through the nearby residential area, the 5-kilometer /3.2-mile course loops back to the finish line at the front of the hospital near the pond, where participants can enjoy the park-like grounds and complimentary refreshments.
Everyone is welcome to participate, regardless of age or physical condition. Strollers and wheelchairs will be allowed, but bikes, roller blades, “heelies,” skateboards and pets are prohibited.
For those who register by May 1, the cost to enter the run-walk-roll, which includes timing chips, is $25 for adults or $15 for children under age 15. After May 1 and on the day of the race, the fee for adults is $30, with registration beginning at 7 a.m.
The race’s top award goes to the First Nurse to finish and awards will be given to the top three overall male and female runners, the youngest participant (riding doesn’t count), and the “wisest” participant (the one who has been on earth the longest).
