Sift together flour and 3/4 cup sugar. Beat egg whites, cream of tartar, and salt in a large bowl until foamy. Gradually add 3/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff. Fold in vanilla, almond extract, and flour mixture. Split the batter into two separate bowls. Beat egg yolks until thick and a lemon color. Fold egg yolks into half of batter. Spoon the white and yellow batters alternately into ungreased 10-inch tube pan. Swirl batter with a knife. Bake at 350 degrees on the lowest shelf in the oven for 35–40 minutes.
